North Dakota auto insurance minimum required coverages and quote information.

North Dakota drivers have enjoyed some of the lowest auto insurance premiums in the country. Even so, you still may be able to save just by doing some comparison shopping. Rates vary from company to company depending upon underwriting factors and the region you live, such as Fargo, Bismarck and Grand Forks.

We made it easy for you to compare rates from different car insurance companies in your area. Simply enter your North Dakota ZIP code in the Insureme Quote box above. Or just click here . This allows you to get three or more comparison quotes and only have to enter your information once.

North Dakota requires that all vehicles registered in the state carry certain minimum insurance coverages. These coverages include Bodily Injury Liability, Property Damage Liability, Uninsured and Underinsured motorist coverage and Basic No-fault (PIP). These are just minimums to help give some guidelines when getting quotes. However, you may want to increase these limits for greater financial protection.

As of June 2009:

Basic No-fault (Personal Injury Protection): $30,000 per person per accident.

Bodily Injury Liability: $25,000 for injuries to one person. $50,000 for injuries to more than one person.

Property Damage Liability: $25,000 for property damage.

Uninsured: $25,000 for injuries to one person. $50,000 for injuries to more than one person.

Underinsured: Must be equal to the limits for Uninsured.
