Auto insurance in Montana: Brief review of the minimum liability requirements and quote information.

Montana has a competitive auto insurance rate environment and that's a good thing for drivers in Butte, Missoula, Great Falls, Billings and other parts of the state. Competition between insurers can save you money, and one of the best ways to save is to get comparison quotes. You should get at least three different quotes.

To get started, just enter your Montana ZIP code in the Insureme Quote box above or click here to get your free quotes. When you use the free Insureme service, you can get three or more comparison quotes and only have to enter your information once.

Montana requires that owners of vehicles carry minimum liability coverage per the following requirements. These are just the minimums required by law, and you may want to increase these limits for additional financial protection.

At the minimum, you must have coverages for Bodily Injury Liability and Property Damage Liability. Insurance companies are required to offer Uninsured Motorist coverage, but consumers may reject this coverage.

As of June 2009:

Bodily Injury Liability: Minimum of $25,000 per person and $50,000 if two or more persons are injured per accident.

Property Damage Liability: Minimum of $10,000 per accident.

Uninsured Motorist coverage: $25,000 per person, $50,000 per accident.
